About Madison

With a lifelong career in horses, competing from pony hunters to the adult jumpers, Madison knows what it takes to win at every level.

Since age 4, Madison K Brown has been hooked on horses. At first it was just trail riding and some ring work, but by age 9, Madison found her competitive side and made her way to the show ring. From schooling shows to the national level, Madison has been competitive every step of the way. She found her sweet spot in the pony hunter ring, competing in the smalls, mediums, larges, and greens, everywhere from "C" shows in North Carolina to "AA" shows in Florida. During her junior career, she also found success in the equitation and hunters from children's to juniors with her off-the-track Thoroughbred. Once she aged out, she competed in adult medals and adult jumpers with the same horse. She has also competed in hunter derbies, which are among her favorite classes to enter. During her 11 years of competition, Madison has catch-ridden countless horses and ponies in everything from pre-greens to pony hunters and beyond.

In 2013-2014, Madison was a member of the NCAA Varsity Gamecock Equestrian Team, during which time she trained with nationally recognized coaches. In that year, the Gamecocks won the SEC Championship and were Runner-Up National Champions. Following her freshman year and the culmination of her first amateur year, Madison made the decision to go professional.

In addition to her experience on horseback, Madison also has experience in other areas of horsemanship. She has managed a 14-horse stable with a medium-sized lesson program, as well as coached students competing in walk/trot through age group equitation. She has worked with IHSA and IEA teams, working as horse coordinator at the Camden IEA Classic in 2014 and the Coastal Carolina University/UNC Wilmington joint IHSA show in 2010. During her time on the Gamecock Equestrian Team, Madison helped to setup, run, and take down NCAA meets, including the SEC Championship, with duties including jump setup, videography, scribing, and horse management.

Outside of the competition arena, Madison is a junior Journalism major at the University of South Carolina, a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, and a sister of Phi Mu. She is a regular columnist for The Carolinas Equestrian magazine. Her academic accolades include SEC First Year Honor Roll, Athletic Director's Honor Roll, and Dean's List. She has one varsity letter in equestrian, as well as two letters from high school through the USEF High School Equestrian Athletes program, and she served for two years on the SCHJA Junior Committee.
